Agartala to Kolkata via Bangladesh

The excess cost of the increasing Airfare or the troublesome, tiring and time consuming bus journey via Assam might prompt one to opt for the Indo-Bangladesh Bus Service. Apparently it might seem to be a replacement of the 1st two means of communication, for many people,  but actually IT IS REALLY A  GOOD SERVICE TO BE GIVEN THE FIRST PREFERENCE for journey between Kolkata and Agartala

The Bus service is under the collaboration of TRTC, Agartala and Shyamali Paribahan. The bus starts from TRTC, Agartala. The journey is very much comfortable. Here we put forward the various steps that one have to take before and during the journey to Kolkata. We are putting forward the experience of one of the tourists, who have done this journey several times.

Agartala to Kolkata Bus Journey via Bangladesh

1. The first step is to have a Passport. It may be an International or an Indo-Bangladesh passport. Either of them will do.

2. The 2nd most important thing is to have the Visa. To get the Visa, you need to go to Bangladesh High Commision near Assam riffles. You need to have 4 main things.

  • Ticket

  • Passport

  • 3 copies of passport size photo

  • Xerox copy of 10$ conversion. (@ 5$ per day which you need to have in order to travel 2 days via a Foreign country)

3. Bus from TRTC leaves at 1:30 p.m.

4. There happens to be a checking at the Akhaura border by Indian Immigration.

5. As we cross the Border, a similar checking takes place by Bangladesh immigration office.

6. There is  a stoppage at Ashuganj at around 4p.m. for light refreshment.

7. The next major stop is at Dhaka at around 8 p.m. There you can take your refreshments.

8. The bus starts at around 10 p.m. through Bishya Road.

9. Then we get some stoppages in the road until we reach the "PADMA" river at around 1 a.m. The river is to be crossed on "Ferri" boats. It takes around 45 mins to cross the river.

10. Then Subsequently we reach Benapole Border and there happens to be a checking out there. And similar sort of checking takes place on crossing the Border (Petrapole).

11. There is a halt at Barasat, Kolkata and then the Final destination of Esplanade or Karunamoyee is reached directly. Those buses which go to Esplanade, needs to be changed at Petrapole Border. The Karunamoyee bus need not to be changed.

This is the experience of a person who have visited  Kolkata via Bangladesh in Bus. If someone wants to give us more detailed information or want to modify this, then do send it in a tabular form as is given above at tripura4u@gmail.com
